What next

I’ve retired from teaching again – this time from supply work rather than a permanent post. It was all just too “Groundhog Day” for my liking (been there, done that, have the tee-shirt). Hopefully, while job hunting, I’ll be able to begin regular posting again and reboot the music and iBook work.

Mastering

Many, many years ago, when I first started the Earth Balm project, I often visited the website of John Vestman. The advice on the site is still as valid now as it was then. If you have time or need advice on mastering, why not pay a visit too?

The pages on separations and reference CDs are favourites of mine.

SVR

Yesterday was our last chance to visit a heritage railway before my eldest moves away to study History at york university.  Our end-of-an-era visit was to the Severn Valley Railway. The day gave me a chance to try out my second-hand (used) Nikon D3100. I’m still no more than a “put the camera in auto and point-and-click”er but I was pleased with the results.

A fantastic if tinged with sadness day out. Images below.

Star Wars

It is a dreadful pun but today is “International Star Wars Day” (May the Fourth (Force) be with you). I was 15 when the film was first released and saw it several times – until I knew big chunks of dialogue.  Its simple good versus evil (good triumphs) film which sat nicely with my  personal beliefs at the time. Here’s hoping that the old stars shine in the new film and the moral message is kept intact.
