Off to see the fantastic Martin Simpson tonight at the St David’s Hall, Cardiff – with bassists Andy Long and Matt Cohen (of the Tim Crahat Band and Ghost Community, respectively). Looking forward to good music and good company. Hopefully, MS will be showcasing many songs from the new album but also playing some of the masterpieces from past albums. Don’t get excited very often but I’m fit to bust for this.
Topic Records has given us a teasing glimpse of the new album by Martin Simpson. It’s certainly grabbed my interest at a time when my interest in Music generally is waning!
Here’s the preview below:
Really looking forward to seeing Tony McManus tonight at the Chapel in Abergavenny.
Have a box of 20 Potter’s Chesty Cough Pastilles to avoid disturbing anybody’s enjoyment of the concert.
Just to add that the first time I encountered “Shallow Brown” was as an instrumental version on Martin Simpson’s “When I was on Horseback” CD.
Really interesting presentation from Martin Simpson for Guitarist magazine:
A BBC video of Martin Simpson talking guitars at Stefan Sobell’s guitar workshop.
I much prefer the English / European sound of the Sobell to the American sound of the PRS. Just my personal preference. I think it suits Martin’s playing more.
