The Horror of the Heights

I began reading the Conan Doyle anthology last night. I only had time to read the first story – “The Horror of the Heights“. Quaint is the best way I can describe it. Quaint like American sci-fi serials from the 1930s, think Buster Crabbe. There’s ‘horror’ enough in there for me.

It’s a pity the ending was ‘telegraphed’ from the beginning but those were different literary times. It seems to have been based on an incident that was reported in 1891. I think I’m going to enjoy the rest of the stories.
